9-Man

9-man is a competitive nine-a-side volleyball variant developed within Chinese American communities in the early 20th century, traditionally played outdoors on asphalt or concrete courts with looser net-touching and ball-handling rules than standard volleyball. It remains a significant East Coast Chinatown tradition, with annual tournaments serving as major community and cultural gatherings.
