Visualforce is a Salesforce framework for building custom user interfaces using an XML-like markup language paired with Apex controllers. Salesforce developers used it to create custom pages, forms, and dashboards before Lightning Web Components became the more modern standard, though it remains in use for legacy applications. It allows tight integration with Salesforce data while giving developers more UI control than standard page layouts.
