Ketogenic Diet

Healthcare and Medical

The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, very low-carbohydrate eating plan that shifts the body's primary fuel source from glucose to ketones produced from fat breakdown, a metabolic state called ketosis. It was originally developed in the 1920s to help manage epilepsy and is now popularly used for weight loss and blood sugar management, typically limiting carbs to around 20-50 grams per day. Followers eat foods like meat, eggs, cheese, and low-carb vegetables while avoiding grains, sugar, and most fruit.
