Cyber operations encompasses the day-to-day activities of defending, monitoring, and, in some contexts, offensively acting within cyberspace, including network monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management. In military and government contexts, the term also covers offensive cyber operations such as those conducted by intelligence or defense agencies. Security operations center (SOC) analysts and cyber operations specialists carry out these functions to protect critical systems in real time.
