Cardiac stress testing is a diagnostic procedure that evaluates how the heart performs under physical exertion, typically by having a patient walk or run on a treadmill (or receive medication that simulates exercise) while heart rate, blood pressure, and ECG readings are monitored. It is used by cardiologists to detect coronary artery disease, assess exercise tolerance, and evaluate the effectiveness of heart treatments. Imaging techniques like echocardiography or nuclear scans are sometimes combined with the test for more detailed results.
