Branch

Software Development and Engineering Practices

In software development, a branch is an independent line of development within a version control system like Git, allowing developers to work on new features, bug fixes, or experiments without affecting the main codebase. Teams use branching strategies (such as GitFlow or trunk-based development) to coordinate parallel work and later merge changes back together. Outside of software, "Branch" can also refer to a mobile marketing and deep-linking platform used by companies to track app installs and attribute user engagement across channels.
