Pennsylvania Opened 193 Roles This Week, Up From 112 — Just Under the National Pace | Career App Daily
Pennsylvania picked up 193 new postings this week across the employer boards we track, up from 112 the week before. That is 81 more roles and a 72% increase — a real move, but slightly slower than the network as a whole.
Jobs in Pennsylvania sat tenth among the twelve states with openings in our data this week.
How that compares to the national week
Across every board we track, new postings went from 6,335 to 11,234 week over week — a 77% jump. Pennsylvania grew 72%, so its share of new supply slipped a hair, from 1.8% of new roles last week to 1.7% this week. Practically, that means the state kept up with a broad surge rather than driving it.
One caveat on the comparison, straight from the packet: these week-over-week counts only include boards we were already crawling before the comparison window opened. Newly added employer boards are excluded, so onboarding a big careers site never shows up as a hiring boom.
The growth leaders were elsewhere. Tennessee went from 70 to 314 new postings, Arizona from 57 to 188, and Florida from 193 to 449. On raw volume, California led with 843 and Texas followed with 570. Pennsylvania's 193 lands close to Massachusetts at 200 and just ahead of North Carolina at 179.
What we can and can't say about who's hiring there
Here is the honest limit of this week's data. Our packet ranks employers and salary pools at the network level, not by state, so we cannot attribute Pennsylvania's 193 roles to specific companies or occupations without guessing — and we would rather not.
What we can say is what the national week looked like behind those numbers. The busiest boards were AdventHealth with 416 new roles (964 open), Cleveland Clinic with 319 (903 open), Citigroup with 299 (511 open), Tyson Foods with 295 (573 open) and Target with 292 (616 open). Health systems, a bank, a food processor and a big-box retailer — a wide spread, not one sector carrying the week. Meijer added 269, U.S. Bank 241, Ranger Boats 237, Jabil 234 and JLL 230.
Similarly, the posted-salary medians we publish are network-wide pools of employer-posted ranges annualized to USD, not Pennsylvania figures. For scale: Software Engineer sits at a $240,000 median across 1,146 listings with a range attached, Machine Learning Engineer at $283,500 across 103, and Sales Representative at $79,250 across 156. Treat those as national context for a Pennsylvania search, not a local benchmark.
Two numbers to keep in view
First, the twelve states with openings in our data account for 4,184 of the 11,234 roles opened this week. The rest aren't pinned to a single state in this week's counts, and remote made up just 3% of new postings — so state-level totals like Pennsylvania's 193 are a floor for what's actually reachable from the state, not a ceiling.
Second, 22,668 listings closed in the last seven days against 11,234 opened. The board is churning faster than it is growing, and the open pool now stands at 57,024 roles from 691 employers. In a week like that, a posting's shelf life matters as much as the count — applying early is doing more work than waiting for a bigger list.
