Key Food is a supermarket retailers' cooperative founded in Brooklyn, New York in 1937, with roughly 300+ member-owned stores operating under banners including Key Food, Food Universe, and others across New York, New Jersey, and neighboring states. Rather than a single corporate chain, it is jointly owned by its independent grocer members and is now headquartered in Matawan, New Jersey.
