Occupation

Operations Engineer

Operations Engineers manage the day-to-day functioning and optimization of technical systems, infrastructure, or supply chain operations within organizations. The work varies by specialty—cloud operations engineers maintain servers, networks, and containerized systems in production environments; AI operations engineers oversee the deployment, integration, and governance of AI tools; distribution and supply chain operations engineers focus on warehouse efficiency, inventory, and logistics. Most operations engineers combine systems administration, process improvement, and incident response, using monitoring tools, data analysis, and methodologies like Lean to ensure reliability, cost-efficiency, and performance. The role suits technically skilled problem-solvers who are comfortable troubleshooting under pressure, working with cross-functional teams, and optimizing existing systems.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Monitor and troubleshoot production systems and infrastructure to maintain reliability and performance
  • Respond to and resolve incidents affecting operational systems and services
  • Automate manual workflows and repetitive processes to improve efficiency
  • Manage cloud infrastructure, containerized systems, or AI model deployments at scale
  • Integrate third-party APIs and business systems to support operational needs
  • Implement security policies, access controls, and governance for systems and data
  • Analyze operational data and metrics to identify optimization opportunities
