What they ask for
Required
- 2-3+ years of hands-on payroll tax experience with focus on notice resolution and amended returns
- Experience resolving State and Federal payroll tax notices independently
- Comprehensive knowledge of tax payment and filing regulations
- Hands-on experience preparing amended Federal and State payroll tax returns
- Deep knowledge of federal payroll tax law including FICA, FUTA, FITW, and deposit schedules
- Multi-state payroll tax expertise including reciprocal agreements and SUI management
- Proficiency with at least one payroll platform
- Excel/Google Sheets skills including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) required
Nice to have
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance
- CPP preferred for candidates with 4+ years of experience
- Active pursuit of CPP viewed favorably
- Experience at a payroll service bureau, PEO, or multi-client payroll tax environment
