This role leads the design and development of backend services, data pipelines, and web-based tooling for map validation and annotation systems that support Torc's autonomous trucking platform. What they ask for

Required

  • 5+ years building and operating production backend services at scale
  • Expert-level Python for production services and tools
  • Strong SQL for querying, transforming, and analyzing data
  • Web services and APIs supporting web-based tooling with TypeScript and modern frameworks
  • Working knowledge of C++
  • Database and data-modeling expertise with PostgreSQL or similar
  • System design and architecture for complex multi-service systems
  • Git and GitHub proficiency
  • JIRA or similar project management tool familiarity
  • Software engineering fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, reliability engineering
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience

Nice to have

  • Experience designing data annotation, labeling, or data-delivery platforms
  • PostGIS familiarity for spatial queries and geospatial data management
  • Working with large binary or sensor datasets and optimizing data-heavy UIs
  • Point cloud rendering and streaming formats experience
  • Browser-based 3D graphics experience or strong graphics fundamentals
  • HD maps, map formats, or map production pipeline experience
  • Robotics data and visualization ecosystems knowledge
  • Autonomous trucking or autonomous vehicles background
  • Open-source contributions in geospatial, data engineering, simulation, robotics, or annotation
