What this role is
This role leads the development of machine learning models that rank ads on Quora to improve advertiser performance and user experience. You'll own the full lifecycle of ranking systems—from feature engineering through production deployment—and work closely with product and data teams to optimize click-through and conversion rates at scale.

Required
- 4+ years professional machine learning software development
- Hands-on experience developing and deploying ads ranking models at scale with CTR or CVR prediction
- Experience evaluating ranking models through offline analysis and online A/B experiments
- Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow for deep learning
- Strong Python programming skills and production ML code experience
- BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field
- Availability during Quora coordination hours (Mon-Fri 9am-3pm Pacific)
Nice to have
- Experience with feature interaction networks, attention-based user-sequence models, or multi-task learning
- Understanding of how ranking and calibration interact with bidding and auctions
- Experience leading large-scale multi-engineer projects
- Experience with sparse or delayed conversion labels, sampling bias, cold-start, or training-serving inconsistencies
- Experience with generative recommender systems
- Strong leadership and communication skills
