What they ask for

Required

  • 2–3+ years of hands-on payroll tax experience focused on notice resolution, amended returns, and error correction
  • Working knowledge of IRS and state agency notice types
  • Experience resolving State and Federal payroll tax notices independently
  • Comprehensive knowledge of tax payment and filing regulations
  • Experience preparing amended Federal and State payroll tax returns
  • Deep knowledge of federal payroll tax law including FICA, FUTA, FITW, and penalty structures
  • Multi-state payroll tax expertise including SUI account management and local compliance
  • Proficiency with at least one payroll platform and ability to navigate case management systems
  • Excel or Google Sheets proficiency including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and reconciliation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)

Nice to have

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance
  • CPP certification
  • 4+ years of payroll tax experience
  • Experience at a payroll service bureau, PEO, or multi-client payroll tax environment
  • Active pursuit of CPP certification
