Whack-Bat

Whack-bat is a fictional sport invented for Wes Anderson's 2009 film "Fantastic Mr. Fox," adapted from a brief mention in Roald Dahl's original novel. In the film it is depicted as an eccentric, esoteric game played by schoolchildren with elaborate and confusing rules involving a flaming ball, cricket-like bats, and long pauses. It exists purely as a piece of whimsical world-building rather than a real, playable sport.
