Steinstossen

Steinstossen is a traditional Swiss stone-throwing sport, most associated with the Unspunnen festival, in which athletes hurl a heavy, unhewn stone (the famous Unspunnenstein weighs about 83.5 kg) for distance. It is considered one of the oldest Alpine traditions and a forerunner of modern shot put. Competitors train for raw strength and technique, and the sport remains a symbol of Swiss folk culture and national identity.
