Square-1
Square-1 is a twisty puzzle similar in concept to the Rubik's Cube but shaped so that it can be scrambled into irregular, non-cubic forms before being solved back into a cube, due to its layers containing pieces of varying angular sizes. Invented in the 1990s, it is popular among speedcubers as a distinct event in official World Cube Association competitions, requiring different algorithms and strategies from cube-shaped twisty puzzles. Its appeal lies in the added complexity of dealing with shape-shifting during the solve, not just color matching.
