Six-on-Six Basketball

Six-on-six basketball is a historical variant of women's basketball, most famously played in Iowa high schools for decades, in which six players per team were divided into three offensive (forwards) and three defensive (guards) players who stayed confined to half of the court and were limited in dribbling. It was eventually phased out in favor of standard five-on-five rules, with Iowa being the last state to fully transition, ending its state tournament in the sport in 1993.
