Roller Derby

Roller derby is a contact sport played on quad roller skates, typically on an oval track, in which two teams field skaters who try to lap members of the opposing team; a designated scorer called the 'jammer' earns points for each opposing blocker passed. Teams use blocking and defensive skating to help their jammer through while stopping the opposing jammer. Modern roller derby, revived in the 2000s, is known for its strong DIY, inclusive community culture, especially among women's leagues.
