Rackets

Rackets (also spelled racquets) is an indoor court sport in which players strike a small hard ball against the walls of a four-walled court using a long-handled racket, aiming to make shots the opponent cannot return. Originating in England in the early 19th century, likely from prisoners' games played against jail walls, it became popular in English public schools and gentlemen's clubs. It is historically significant as the ancestor of both squash and American racquetball.
