Phaininda

Phaininda was an ancient Greek ball game referenced by classical writers such as Antiphanes and later described by Julius Pollux, believed to have involved passing or feinting with a ball among players, possibly related to the game episkyros. Detailed rules have not survived, and modern knowledge of it comes mainly from scattered literary references rather than direct instructional sources. It is often cited by historians as one of the ancestral ball games that influenced later European sports.
