Grass Skiing

Grass skiing is a sport in which participants ski down grassy, snow-free slopes using specialized skis fitted with rollers, tracks, or caterpillar-like treads instead of smooth bottoms for sliding on snow. It was developed in the 1960s in Europe as a way for alpine skiers to train and compete year-round, and it mirrors traditional skiing disciplines like slalom and giant slalom. It has its own international federation and world championships, drawing skiers who want a summer alternative to snow skiing.
