An electro-mechanical game is an arcade or amusement machine that combines mechanical components, such as motors, solenoids, and relays, with basic electrical circuitry to create gameplay effects, predating the fully electronic and digital video games that followed. Popular from the 1950s through the 1970s, these games included shooting galleries, driving simulators, and pinball-adjacent novelties, using lights, sound, and physical motion to simulate action before microprocessors became standard. They represent an important transitional technology in arcade and amusement history.
