Chuiwan
Chuiwan was an ancient Chinese game resembling golf, played during the Song and Ming dynasties, in which players used a set of clubs to strike a ball into a series of holes marked with small flags across a course of varied terrain. Historical paintings and manuals from the period depict wealthy officials and nobility playing it as a leisurely, genteel pastime. Chuiwan is often cited by historians as an early precursor to modern golf, though scholars debate the extent of any direct lineage between the two games.
