Bocce Volo

Bocce volo (also called "volo") is an athletic variant of Italian bocce played on natural dirt or gravel courts rather than smooth synthetic ones. Players use two throwing techniques—the rolling "raffa" and the aerial "volo," in which the ball is thrown to strike an opponent's ball directly out of the air—demanding more power and precision than casual bocce. It is organized competitively in Italy under national and international bocce federations.
