Battledore
Battledore (also called battledore and shuttlecock) is a historic racket game, popular from the 16th through 19th centuries in Europe and Asia, in which two or more players use small paddles ("battledores") to keep a feathered shuttlecock aloft cooperatively rather than competitively. It served as a genteel pastime for children and adults and is widely regarded as a direct forerunner of modern badminton. Players were drawn to its simplicity and the challenge of sustaining long volleys without a net or scoring boundary.
