Banqi

Banqi, also known as Chinese dark chess or half chess, is a two-player board game played on a Chinese chess (xiangqi) board using the same pieces, which start face-down and are revealed as they are flipped during play. Players capture opposing pieces according to a hierarchy of piece strength, combining elements of luck from random piece placement with strategic decision-making. It is popular as a simpler, faster, and more casual alternative to full xiangqi, often played by children and casual gamers in China and Taiwan.
