Balle À La Main

Balle à la main (French for "ball in hand") is a traditional French folk ball game in which players strike or throw a ball using the bare hand, historically played in village squares and at fairs across France. It is regarded as a forerunner of modern handball and related striking games, and today it survives mainly as a regional or historical pastime rather than a widely organized competitive sport. It was traditionally played for community recreation and informal local rivalry.
