Amateur Journalism
Amateur journalism is the practice of gathering, writing, and publishing news or commentary by people without professional journalistic training or employment, historically through self-published newsletters, 'amateur press' associations, and fanzines, and more recently through blogs and social media. It has a long history in organizations like the National Amateur Press Association, where hobbyists print and exchange their own small-circulation publications for the love of writing and printing itself. Today the term also covers citizen journalism, where ordinary people report on events using digital tools.
