Windows Presentation Foundation

Software Development and Engineering Practices

Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) is a UI framework from Microsoft, introduced with .NET Framework 3.0 in 2006, for building visually rich desktop applications on Windows. It uses XAML markup to separate UI design from application logic and supports vector graphics, animations, data binding, and styling/templating. It is used by developers building sophisticated business or consumer desktop applications that need more advanced visuals and layout flexibility than Windows Forms.
