Sanskrit Language

Languages

Sanskrit is an ancient Indo-European language of South Asia, historically used as the liturgical and scholarly language of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, and the language of classical texts like the Vedas, Upanishads, and epics such as the Mahabharata. It has a highly structured grammar formalized by the linguist Panini and continues to be studied by scholars, linguists, and practitioners of yoga and Indian philosophy. Though rarely spoken as a native language today, it remains influential in linguistics, religious studies, and Indian classical arts.
