Sample Size Determination

Data Science, Analytics and AI/ML

Sample size determination is a statistical process used to calculate the minimum number of observations or participants needed in a study to detect an effect with a desired level of confidence and statistical power. Researchers, data scientists, and market analysts use formulas involving effect size, significance level, and variance to avoid underpowered studies or wasteful over-sampling. It is a foundational step in designing surveys, clinical trials, and A/B tests.
