Rocket

Aviation, Drones and Robotics

A rocket is a vehicle or device that generates thrust by expelling mass (propellant) at high speed according to Newton's third law, enabling it to operate in the vacuum of space unlike jet engines that need atmospheric oxygen. Aerospace engineers design rockets to launch satellites, spacecraft, and crewed missions, with prominent examples including NASA's Saturn V, SpaceX's Falcon 9, and various military missiles. Rocketry is also a hobbyist pursuit, with model and high-power rocket enthusiasts building and launching smaller-scale rockets for recreation and competition.
