Open API Specification
Software Development and Engineering Practices
The Open API Specification (OAS), formerly known as Swagger, is a standardized, language-agnostic format for describing RESTful APIs, detailing endpoints, request/response schemas, authentication methods, and parameters in a machine-readable file (typically YAML or JSON). Software developers and API architects use it to auto-generate documentation, client SDKs, and server stubs, and to validate that an API implementation matches its intended design. It has become the de facto industry standard for API documentation and tooling.
