Certifications and Credentials
Occupational hygiene (also called industrial hygiene) is the science of anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling workplace hazards such as chemical exposures, noise, radiation, and biological agents that could harm workers' health. Occupational hygienists conduct exposure monitoring, air sampling, and risk assessments, then recommend engineering or administrative controls. It is a specialized discipline within occupational safety and health, often requiring certification such as Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
