Machine Learning Algorithms

Data Science, Analytics and AI/ML

Machine learning algorithms are the specific mathematical procedures used to train models that identify patterns or make predictions from data, such as linear regression, decision trees, support vector machines, k-means clustering, and neural networks. Data scientists select and tune these algorithms based on the problem type (classification, regression, clustering) and the nature of the available data. Understanding their assumptions and trade-offs—such as bias-variance balance and computational cost—is essential for building effective predictive models.
