Lithium is a lightweight, highly reactive alkali metal best known for its use in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that power smartphones, laptops, and electric vehicles. It is also used in psychiatric medicine as a mood stabilizer for treating bipolar disorder, and mining/chemical engineers work with it in battery manufacturing and materials science.
