Hospice is a specialized model of care focused on comfort and quality of life for people with terminal illnesses, typically when curative treatment is no longer pursued and life expectancy is six months or less. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and aides, often in the patient's home, and addresses pain management, emotional support, and family counseling.
