Home health care is professional medical or personal care -- such as nursing, physical therapy, wound care, or assistance with daily activities -- delivered to patients in their own homes rather than in a hospital or clinic. It's provided by home health aides, licensed nurses, and therapists, often to elderly patients, people recovering from surgery, or those with chronic illness or disability. The field is a major and growing part of the healthcare workforce as populations age and care shifts away from institutional settings.
