Hmong Language
Languages
Hmong is a group of related tonal languages spoken by the Hmong people of Southeast Asia (particularly Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand) and their diaspora communities, notably in the United States. The two most widely spoken varieties, Hmong Daw (White Hmong) and Mong Leng (Green/Blue Hmong), are mutually intelligible and written using the Romanized Popular Alphabet developed in the 1950s. Fluency in Hmong is valuable for interpreters, social workers, educators, and healthcare providers serving Hmong-American communities in cities like St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Fresno.
