A GitHub Repository (or "repo") is a storage location for a project's code, files, and complete version history, hosted on GitHub's platform built on Git. It allows developers to track changes over time, collaborate with others, manage issues, and maintain multiple branches of development. Repositories can be public (open-source) or private, and are the basic organizational unit for nearly all software projects on GitHub.
