General Surgery

Healthcare and Medical

General surgery is a surgical specialty focused on operations involving the abdominal organs (such as the intestines, stomach, liver, and gallbladder), as well as the skin, soft tissues, and sometimes breast and endocrine systems. General surgeons are trained to perform a wide variety of procedures, from appendectomies to hernia repairs, and often serve as first responders to surgical emergencies in trauma settings. Their broad procedural training makes them versatile across many types of operative care before subspecializing further.
