Civil Law

Legal and Compliance

Civil law is the branch of law dealing with disputes between private parties, such as contracts, property, torts, and family matters, as opposed to criminal law. It also refers to a broader legal tradition, rooted in Roman law and codified statutes, used in much of Europe, Latin America, and Asia, in contrast to common law systems. Lawyers, judges, and paralegals working in civil litigation handle cases like personal injury claims, contract disputes, and divorce proceedings.
