Census

Other

A census is an official, periodic count of a population conducted by a government, most notably the U.S. Census Bureau's decennial count mandated by the Constitution to apportion congressional seats and allocate federal funding. It collects demographic data such as age, race, household size, and housing information, and requires large temporary workforces of enumerators to collect data door-to-door or via mail and online surveys. The resulting data informs public policy, urban planning, and academic research.
