AWS Shared Responsibility Model

Cybersecurity

The AWS Shared Responsibility Model is a framework defining which security and compliance obligations belong to AWS ('security of the cloud'—physical infrastructure, hardware, networking) versus the customer ('security in the cloud'—data, access management, application configuration). Cloud architects and compliance teams reference it to understand exactly what they must secure themselves versus what AWS handles, which varies by service type (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS). It's foundational to cloud security planning and audits.
