Apache Log4j

Software Development and Engineering Practices

Apache Log4j is a widely used Java-based logging library that lets developers output diagnostic and application log messages with configurable formats, levels, and destinations. It became broadly known outside developer circles after the 2021 Log4Shell vulnerability (CVE-2021-44228), a critical remote code execution flaw that affected countless Java applications worldwide. It remains a standard tool for logging in enterprise Java software.
