Timex Group USA, Inc. (commonly known as Timex) is an American watch manufacturing company tracing its roots to the Waterbury Clock Company, founded in 1854 in Waterbury, Connecticut, and renamed Timex in 1941. It became a global leader in affordable watches, pioneering technologies like the Indiglo backlight and SSQ digital watches. Since 2008 it has operated as a subsidiary of the Dutch-American holding company Timex Group B.V., which is owned by Boston-based investment firm Baupost Group.
