Timberland is an American manufacturer and retailer of outdoor footwear, apparel, and accessories, best known for its rugged yellow work boot. Founded in 1952 and incorporated as The Timberland Company in 1978, it gained major cultural prominence through adoption by hip-hop culture in the 1980s-90s. It has been a subsidiary of VF Corporation since 2011.
