Maxwell Technologies is a San Diego-based developer and manufacturer of energy storage and power delivery products, particularly ultracapacitors, for automotive, industrial, renewable-energy and transportation applications. Founded in 1965 as Maxwell Laboratories, it was acquired by Tesla in 2019, had its ultracapacitor/branding business sold to Ucap Power in 2021, and the company was acquired by battery maker Clarios in November 2025.
