What we do
iRobot is the American maker of the Roomba robotic vacuum and other home robots, founded in 1990 by MIT roboticists Rodney Brooks, Colin Angle, and Helen Greiner. After Amazon's proposed acquisition was terminated in 2024 and the company underwent Chapter 11 bankruptcy, iRobot became a privately held subsidiary of Chinese robotics manufacturer Picea in January 2026, while remaining headquartered in Bedford, Massachusetts.
