What we do
Hedgebrook is a nonprofit literary retreat on Whidbey Island, Washington, founded in 1988, that provides free residencies (housing, meals, and workspace) to women and nonbinary writers. It has hosted over 2,000 alumnae, including numerous prize-winning authors, and also runs conferences, workshops, and public programs.
